EXCLUSIVE: Shanthi Priya recalls working with Akshay Kumar in her Hindi debut movie Saugandh; says, “He was a mastikhor from day 1”

Actor Shanthi Priya who was already a renowned actor in the South industry made a Hindi debut in Saugandh alongside a newcomer who was none other than Akshay Kumar. He also made his debut in the industry with the same movie and despite working with an established actor, Akshay has always been called as the prankster of Bollywood. During the shoot of the movie, Shanthi Priya recalled the time when she shot her debut movie with Akshay Kumar.

During an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shanthi said, “He was like that from day 1, very mastikhor. I can tell you that he has changed from the first schedule to the second schedule. In the first schedule, he was very quiet and calm thinking that he was just new. But he was very fun and I can vouch for it.” When asked if she had spoken to him after so many years. She said, “I have spoken to him a couple of years back but I have not recently spoken or met him anywhere.“

Shanthi Priya on bagging a Hindi movie alongside a newcomer

Speaking about the same, she said, “Even I feel surprised sometimes at how I bagged a Hindi movie. I remember doing Vishwamitra where I played Shankuntala. And then one fine day, someone called me saying ‘We are speaking from Bombay and would you be interested in doing a Hindi movie, adding that she was shocked to know. They wanted me to sign a contract for three movies then my mom said ‘No, we will not sign any contract and we will do the movies when we like it.‘”

They said that you needed to hear the story and after agreeing to it, Shanthi asked the producers about the male lead of the movie and they said it was a new boy. Shanthi continued, “Then they narrated the story and I couldn’t ask for a better Hindi debut because it was a character of a tomboy who then shows her feminine side.“
